To anyone following this saga, we do get the " Dragon" (vacuum cleaner) backbone from the repair shop with its brand new replacement cord tomorrow. It was kill dead by my 40" towering gallant knight - not two weeks after he single handedly took out my oven by tossing an feeble cell phone charger into it , unbeknownst to me! ( Well, I did learn that a charger will melt- flat at 450* similar to a big hard cookie) Any of assistance hints as to replacing an oven element while we are here? Lol!
Well on the bright side, I will probably preserve all you wonderful relations with the handiness confidence busy dispensing your wisdom for a while!

Answers: Get a potato, impale the broken glass contained by it, and turn normally. And, unsurprisingly, discard (not good for mash any more!)
As for the element, it sounds similar to you need a trial one. Actually, they are pretty easy to replace (once you hold gotten the right one) . Here's a link for you http://www.appliance411.com/faq/replace-...

YEP YEP use a potato but,cut the top quantity flat first, and you get just one shot to put it over the socket and into the socket at the same time. Or you gotta cut up another potato and try again. Just turn it to remove the broken bulb.
Sounds similar to you have slightly a kid there.......may call for drugs to calm him down......or a harness and leash......... LOL
