Serious problem, final patio retaining wall broke...? I've got a problem, my retaining wall within my back patio...
I've got a problem, my retaining wall within my back patio broke, now the courtyard is eroding backwards...we've managed to contain the eroding until we can procure help.
Now here is the piece. On the other side of the wall is conservation/preserve area. So I'm getting asked if the retaining wall is "mine" or not, and who put it up. I hold no idea nearly this.
So to anyone with experience contained by this, if I have a retaining wall that breaks, and trees, dirt, etc. spills out into the conservation nouns, who is responsible for the wall? And who is responsible for the cleanup? We were told we're not supposed to turn out there, as it is some disposition preserve or something. Help!

Who's property is the retaining wall on? Check or attain a survey done. If the wall is not on your property then it is not your problem to fix. If the wall is on your property afterwards you are responsible to fix and clean up.
Find out who owns/administers the nature preserve, and address to them. You can find out at the local government's offices by looking at the export tax records or property plat book.
You could also find out who's property the wall sits on by have a survey of your land done. That's a short time more expensive than the first option, though, so I'd turn to the gov't offices first.
Answers: A survey was required when I bought my home, so one may own been required when you bought your property. I would check contained by your paperwork. A survey would indicate whether the wall is yours. You may have overlooked the survey when you bought your property, if zilch was of any concern (such as an easement) among adjectives the other forms and such.
Now, assuming that the retaining wall IS on your property, I would check your homeowner's insurance policy. I think that sabotage, repair, and cleanup would be covered, should you be liable. So, I wouldn't worry too much give or take a few that.
