Scissors jack query? Can i use my regular jack in place of my scissors jack....

Can i use my regular jack in place of my scissors jack. I know where on earth to place the the scissors jack on my car. However, it's broke. I hold a regular jack. Can i use it instead even though it won't grab the metal tight? SHould i put together a puck like piece and etch a vein in for the runny metal?
Answers:    The trouble is, the place where you inevitability to put the jack usually has a ridge surrounded by the metal, which the original jack engage, but with a regular jack it newly gets contained by the way. If you try to raise with a jack that won't engross the ridge it might slip out!

They sell "generic" scissors jacks at most of the vehicle parts stores; they aren't much money and usually have one or more groves already nearby to engage the metal ridge that keep it from slipping out. Also, most cars are too low to get a regular bottle jack (hydraulic jack) underneath it, unless you dig a hole to put the jack contained by. If you have a jack from another motor, it might fit, just form certian it is strong enough.
You should use the jack that fits your coup¨¦, otherwise you'll end up really hurt (or dead) if the jack slips.......
