hi we've just have double glazing installed and have painted the unusual wooden windows surrounded by a water base enamel. problem is there are immediately rust-coloured stains appearing in small splotches over where on earth we have puttied and painted over small stainless steel nail in the joinery. does anyone know why the nouns has become discoloured and what to do roughly speaking it?
thanks
Answers: The nail aren't stainless.
If you have any nail visible or handy that you believe are stainless... take a magnet to them. If they are appealing... not stainless.
Raypcdr is probably right about the nail not being stainless.
In any crust, don't fret, simply lightly sand the rust grades and then repaint the nouns with a right exterior primer or shellac found in any home improvment store.
I would push for two coats of primer to be safe. Then re-coat the nouns with your river base enamel you own used previously.
Just keep your eye on the offending nouns and repeat the steps if the rust reappears.
Some times the simplest solutions are the most practical don't procure to busy or you will make a small problem worse.
Good luck, hope this help.
