After every thunderstorm my bedroom smells like burning plastic even though nothing is turned on to be precise plugged in and the light is not on. It's the with the sole purpose room in the house that smells this way. There are three outlets - one have a TV plugged in and the other has a small storm lantern plugged in, the third outlet is empty. The electrical box is also contained by that room.
