Roaches coming contained by from ceiling vent - relief? We live in a condo (downstairs) and contained by the master...
We live in a condo (downstairs) and contained by the master bath, where on earth the ceiling vent/fan is, roaches are getting in. They are crawling out. I don't know if the guy upstairs is roach infested or what. Other than duct tape the vent shut, is there anything I can do? I am afraid to put poison up within because I don't know where it will blow to.
Answers: First, what NOT to do:
1. Do not fog the house. The fumes are feasible to cause an explosion and/or poison your neighbor, not to mention your fish.
2. Don't spend foolishly your money on roach traps or bait stations. They're 100% worthless.
Now, what to do (in order):
1. Collect a sample roach... there's probably one limp somewhere.
2. Go to http://images.yahoo.com and type in cockroach.
3. Look for your roach among the pictures to identify it.
Once you've identified it, ONLY THEN can you effectively treat it. Here's some tips for the most adjectives roaches:
GERMAN: This is the roach that gives adjectives other roaches a bad cross. Hire a professional - you can't handle this one yourself. Find one that will construct a deal next to both of you if he/she can get into both apartments on equal day every time your treatment is due. German roaches CAN be cured!
ORIENTAL: Look outside for plastic underneath gravel, logs, landscape timbers and the close to. Places that hold moisture like these areas are especially attractive and will sustain a population. These roaches often stroll inside, especially in extreme boil, cold or during heavy rainfall.
AMERICAN: Find the sea source. These roaches need extra hose and drying up their water source will discourage their return.
FIELD: These look a LOT resembling German roaches, but are found outside only. Treat them similar to Oriental roaches and be sure to rake leaves and trim plants at least a few inches above the ground to use up harboarages.
OTHER: A general treatment from a pest control company might do the trick.
4. Check adjectives the weatherstripping and replace any that is damaged/worn. You said they are coming within from a spot outside... Since you know where they're coming surrounded by, repair that spot.
Good luck to you. If you decide to hire a company and they can't answer your question, you think they're too expensive or they dont' nouns certain they can solve your problem, ring up another company.
Taping the Vent isn't going to work.A female cockroach carry an egg capsule containing around 40 eggs, and drops the medication prior to hatching. Development from eggs to adults take 3-4 months, and can live up to a year, and may produce up to eight egg cases in a lifetime. If you don't fix this problem in a minute it will get a undamaged lot worse. You need to phone your front office, or local exterminator, and them fix this right away, motivation they will find other ways to get into your home a bit than just a vent alone.
