I hear so much tado over my local media give or take a few a plumbing error that was installed within homes built before 1995. This medium "alert" mentions something about polybutylene pipe fittings.
What have been the symptom of this error and why is this such an urgency to remedy "now" (13 years later)?
My home be built in 1983 (within the time boundaries of this case) so I need adjectives references on what to look for (any specific symptoms?) around my home.
My house is plumbed near well hose down, so I do not have THAT MUCH PRESSURE on my system to spy any leaks if this is a nouns of this symptom.
Thanks for refences.
My home is in TEXAS.

Polybutylene is a form of plastic resin that was used extensively within the manufacture of hose supply piping from 1978 until 1995. Due to the low cost of the material and mitigate of installation, polybutylene piping systems were view as "the pipe of the future" and were used as a substitute for traditional copper piping. It is most commonly found within the "Sun Belt" where residential construction be heavy through the 1980's and early-to-mid 90's,

The piping systems be used for underground water D and as interior water distribution piping. Industry experts believe it be installed in at least possible 6 million homes, and some experts indicate it may have be used in as abundant as 10 million homes. Most probably, the piping was installed contained by about one contained by every four or five homes built during the years in which the pipe be manufactured.
How to Tell If You Have Poly
Exterior - Polybutylene underground water D are usually blue, but may be gray or black (do not confuse black poly next to polyethelene pipe). It is usually 1/2" or 1" in diameter, and it may be found entering your home through the subterranean vault wall or floor, concrete slab or coming up through your crawlspace; frequently it enters the home close by the water kiln. Your main shutoff stopcock is attached to the end of the hose down main. Also, you should check at the wet meter that is located at the street, close to the city water prevalent. It is wise to check at both ends of the pipe because we enjoy found cases where copper pipe enter the home, and poly pipe is at the water meter. Obviously, both pipes be used and connected somewhere underground.

Interior - Polybutylene used inside your home can be found near the river heater, running across the ceiling contained by unfinished basements, and coming out of the walls to nurture sinks and toilets. Warning: In some regions of the country plumbers used copper "stub outs" where the pipe exits a wall to nurture a fixture, so seeing copper here does not mean that you do not enjoy poly.
I am not sure, as it is not used within my area.(Chicago) but I thought here was a class movement suit with a settlement...I cant remember for sure. I would google it, and find out if you are eligible for a settlement and any information. I believe the fittings leak. Perhaps you are one of the few lucky ones that did not suffer a breakdown in the system.
