Replacing Immersion radiator contained by tank- contemporary one will single screw contained by 1 turn- how can I achieve it to tighten fully -?
Successfully drained tank & removed prehistoric immersion - cleaned threads on tank - angelic as new - added ptfe video - threads matct old oven exactly - but new immersion get stuck after 1 turn - is there a lubricant I should use - Any thinking ?
Yes the best lubricant is a bit of good behind the times spit, excuse my language, but it is. If you stipulation anything more than that, use a bit of soap. If you still have a problem after that you may enjoy an issue with the threads.
You articulate the threads match and they are adjectives clean and as perfect as new. Don't put too various layers of ptfe thread trademark tape on as it single needs one, I don`t know two thicknesses. That might be your problem. You can get solution ptfe now which is OK but it does tend to clear the threads gaul or bind after being together for a time.
Anyhow if you hold only a couple of turns of thread trademark tape and a bit of lube on the threads and you are sure the threads are streight, you are not cross threading the undamaged thing, consequently perhaps you newly have to put a bit of muscle into it.
You can check to see if the threads are not crossed by running a pointy screwdriver around adjectives the threads both on the heater and inside the tub socket. If you dont own any burs then you are not crossed.
You must screw it surrounded by plumb though.
Best of luck.
It sounds to me that any the cylinder or the immersion has cross threaded. Does the outdated immersion still fit properly? if it does then probably the new one is cross threaded.
There is also the possibility that the antediluvian immersion was originally cross threaded and forced into the cylinder, if so the the cylinder will necessitate replacing.
If you force the new one surrounded by there is the jeopardy of rupturing the cylinder.
Answers: Don't use ptfe tape. The unusual immersion should have come next to a washer, add a sealant to this such as fernox LSX and it should run in ok.
