I am vacating a rented property subsequent month and I need to repair the lounge walls. The paint have a patchy powdery finish, and in some places the powdery effect have been rubbed away. How do I paint over these areas to undertake that effect? Paint, sponge and water conceivably?? Thanks...........

Answers:    In all actuality..You do not requirement to do a thing...It is call "considerable wear and tear" according to most laws..If within are not markings,graffitti,or obnoxious amounts of damage excluding normal wear and crack you are not responsible... This happens alot beside cheap apartment grade flat latexes..or any other sheen as far as that go if the landlord used cheap paints...They cannot hold you responsible for the chalking etc as long as you did no actual impair..

sometimes flat paint can become chalky with age. rinse out the wall with some tsp or ammonia solution and later paint over the walls use flat if there's alot of imperfections b/c it hide better , if not use eggshell finish after it will be washable..you would most likely bring back your deposit back out of the buy and sell if the landlord doesn't own to do it. BUT if the wall is textured you may need wallboard compound to rub the existing effect on the wall...
