Answers:    Nail varnish may do more impair than good. Whatever solvent you use should be tested on a unseen nouns first.

To do this you need to know what type of paste it is, and what finish is on the table.
PVA and water base glues- will come off near water. Water may put on a pedestal the grain of wax tables, or leave your job marks on french polished ones.
Rubber type glue may come off near soapy water, or other solvents.
Solvent base glues will have need of the same solvent.
Epoxy (2 part) glue will only come past its sell-by date with sand.
