Hi everyone,I just completed an diy rangehood.I wired
it to a gfci receptacle that be 2 feet on the wall away.
I used 12-2 romex.The extent requires a charcoal filter
or performance ring for the blower ring which I own not gotten yet.I connected the electrical system to the extra empty
screw. It runs fine but there is 1 problem. The selection
requires par20 50 watt halogen.I hade fluorescent spirals
rated almost 12 watts and the equivalent of 100 watt light
bulbs and when I put them within they smelled as if they were burning.I enjoy it all wired right.does anyone know if
the rangehood is halogen specific and can not use
fluorescent? Or could it be defective band or
need a separate circuit? Thanks for any counsel
Answers:    You need the halogen bulb. if it call for a halogen then you will burn up any other bulb that you put surrounded by it, it might blow up or shatter all over the place and possiably effect a fire. if you look at a halogen bulb and a regular bulb you will see the diffrence, the glass is much thicker within a halogen bulb than it is in a regular bulb.
turn it on and go off it on for a while....watch it closely....it might only just be the newness....be paid sure the bulb is not against anything
