Questions for roof contractor? I am in the process of scheduling interviews for a roofing...
I am in the process of scheduling interviews for a roofing contractor. I know the bare bones (i.e. proof of insurance, license, written price, schedule) but are there any other question I should be asking that would effect the outcome of the roof? Is it ok to flat out as for referrals? Do you ruminate it is important to in truth meet the foreman who will be on the employment? Any insight would help!! Thanks!
Answers: Make sure it's surrounded by writing as to how they'll charge if water destabilized sheeting is found, ie, time and materials, or will you supply the material and they repair. They won't know if near is damage until the roof is exposed.
Absolutely ask for reference.
Check the BBB.
Don't hesitate to grasp more than one estimate.
Find out what kind of roofing bits and pieces they plan to install...is it good standard or some cheapy stuff? That info should be included in the contract and can be verified at your local lumber courtyard.
How will the roof be loaded? Is a truck with a boom bringing it contained by? If so, how will the contractor ensure that your yard won't be hammer.
Who will be responsible for getting rid of the debris? Easier for them to do it...basically get it within writing!
Ask that it be in writing that they "sweep" the courtyard (with a magnet) to get rid of any nail that fall to the ground. Even if they tarp the nouns, nails bounce :)
As far as debate with the foreman, it might not be a fruitless idea. Good to know beforehand if you'll be capable of communicate with him.
Best to you!
