Question just about my destabilized tree!? About a month ago I hit one of my 2.5 foot tall...

About a month ago I hit one of my 2.5 foot tall treelings with a weed wacker taking in the region of 6 inches off of the top. I waited to see if it would survive and it did. Previously it have no branches and now it has a nice well branch growing upward out of the side. Even though it is growing a branch out of the side the top has not grown where I hit it next to the weed wacker. So I was wondering if I needed to clip the top of the tree down an inch or so until I get to the green cut of the tree or will it eventually fix itself?
Answers:    Whenever you cut the very tip it will sprot from the sides then travel up. that one that be cut has scarred and will remain that passageway. You can still form the new branches to go where on earth you want them. Look up the art of Bonsai it will help you.
