No that's greatly dangerous, that gas surrounded by your air could snuff out you!! Don't turn it on at all unless it go regularly again. That is very insecure you should get someone to fix it, and if you've have it on several times open some window in that room, it's extremely unsafe to own that gas in the upper air you're breathing!!

Answers:    If this is an older stove it is designed for you to enjoy to push in and after turn. this eliminates a big dog or a small child from basically grabbing the knob and turning it. If this is a newer model near safetys then that push to turn again is a final ditch safety installed to save small children from turn the knob.Get a guy out there to look at it or post some pictures of it for a more detailed discription.Most stove do not consent to raw gas out in this day and age. Their are still some old prehistoric models out there that did work close to that back contained by the day.
