Can a 8 - 12 pound regulator be used on a small propane refrigerator or is that too much? Is that considered a high pressure regulator for use near a secondary low pressure one close to the refrigerator??

An 8-12 pound regulator is a elevated pressure first stage regulator.The line pressure for propane should be 11" surrounded by a water column.This is smaller number than 1/2 psi.Yes you will need a second stage low pressure regulator or a 2-stage regulator at the cistern.If you are using a second stage regulator it doesn't necessarily need to be close to the refrigerator as it should be installed outside the building.In some cases regulators can be installed inside but would involve to have the vent run to a termination point outside the building.This is something to be precise not done very normally and should be avoided.It is also illegal to run 12 psi into a building
