Propane heat- am I getting ripped stale or is it really that expensive? This is our first 'official' winter living in our brand new (old)...
This is our first 'official' winter living in our brand new (old) house in the country. I guess my sound out is... how much does it cost on average to heat your home per month using propane? This is what my gas company told me & I'm a short time ago having a frozen time believing it. They told me that the average home uses between 10-12 gallons per day. Our current rate is $1.91 per gallon. So if you average 11 gallons per afternoon @ $1.91 that's $630.30 every 30 days! I have a intricate time believing that people can afford $630.00 every month for warmth. I live in MN so it's be a really cold winter & I realize that everyone's usuage would be different depending on the weather but this still seem really really high to me. Not to mention that your bills own to be paid in 15 days or they start racking up finance charges on your sketch. Does this sound elevated to anyone else- or is this just what you draw from for living in the country? I appreciate any thoughts on this- gratitude. FYI- they offer no clearing plans.
Answers: Not having any perception what the rate/kilowatt hour is in your neighborhood, I don't know if this will minister to or not. However, I live in SW lower MI and we've have an extremely snowy, frigid winter as well, we usually grasp your weather a few days later. One of my in-laws just now purchased a couple of the new Eden Pure Electric Quartz Radiant heaters surrounded by an effort to cut their heat bills down, (they also use LP for their gas needs,) and they come across quite thrilled with them. They're not cheap, but the folks seem to be to think they've save enough on their gas costs to reward for these things in a couple years. You might look into them, I'm sure there's probably a website somewhere that would bequeath you a local dealer's address or phone number.
I use propane for my stove only (thank goodness) so I don't use that much of it, but get the tank bursting just past christmas at over $4 a gallon (BTW: Live in Connecticut). So a buck 91 sounds well-mannered to me . . . .
