Possible Underground Oil Tank Leak? Who do I need to nickname to see if my Grandparents'...
Who do I need to nickname to see if my Grandparents' home has an grease tank escape? What will they need to do and how much? They hold had this small grease stain on their basement wall for years and a repairs man who was in that for another reason told them they have an oil escape and they would have to repay everything they owned for clean up. There is no grease smell or any other indications, but they are scared and I want to support them clear this up.
Answers: If an underground tank have been leak, then it have contaminated the soil around it... and yes, this can get expensive to resolve. Worst grip scenario, the tank would hold to be removed, and ALL of the contaminated soil would have to be removed... if the reservoir has be leaking for heaps years, this could be a lot of soil, hehehe.
As to who to send for, I'd start with their fuel provider. If they do not give a soil test, later they should know who in their nouns does. If that's a dead completion, then start next to the local county health board... they present soil and water carrying out tests, I'm sure. If the soil is contaminated, a licensed contractor will have to be call in, and the soil and aged tank disposed of per regulations.
Good Luck
Call a grease company and have a brand new tank put surrounded by. They do it all the time.
