I just put an inground pool within and there's a black filter looking thing on the wager on of it with a chalice top.. I was looking at this and saw a bunch of leaves and refuse in near? Does anyone know anything about this? Can i lately take the top bad and take the filter out to verbs it? Should this be done periodically?
Thanks...
Answers:    You are probably referring to the strainer basket. Shut the pump stale and twist the sou`wester counter clockwise. There should be a couple of tabs on it to relief you do that. Take the basket out and verbs it thoroughly. I usually turn the valve to "filter to waste" and do a rapid flush without the picnic basket in it to obtain rid of the remaining debris that are floating around within the bowl. Never turn your valve bar while the pump is running. It will ruin the rubber seal inside. Do a backwash if you haven't done so contained by a while. There is a sight chalice where you can see how dirty your filter is while you are pay for washing. After ward, put the strainer back within and run it normally. Happy swimming!
This would be a filter and yes it should own threads that you can remove the top, AFTER turning the pump off. It will collect leaves and larger wreckage. I would recommend cleaning this and the basket surrounded by the skimmer daily.
