My house is 7 years old with copper plumbing beneath slab.
I had a water/plumbing leak below my house slab, for which the plumber had to rip open several tiles to carry to teh leak, but once he repaired it the pipe started leaking only a foot away from it and that continued 3 times. After that the pipe next to it started leaking.

The plumber is stating that this will verbs as my copper pipes have gone really bad and is suggesting that I should re-pipe my entire house through the walls.

I am concerned on 2 factor (beside the huge cost and ripping off my walls), is this plumber just trying to take home more money ? Is the plumbing through the wall considered better than through the slab ?

With the cost I could potentially open the slab and re-do under slab plambing and re-tile the house. Which is better, doing it through the wall or re-do underneath slab ?
if the copper is touching the concrete then that can cause a problem.when roughing surrounded by plumbing on a concrete slab, we have to wrap the pipes where they come thru the floor slab so as not to allow the 2 to touch.or it will not endorse inspection...i would go thru the wall and use poly.

I own never heard of bad copper up to that time, PVC or galvanized maybe, and I enjoy never heard of it being replaced inside the house. Something is seriously wrong within and I would definitely get another evaluation. If it has to be done I would abandon the piping underneath slab and stub it into a wall and go from there, next you could save ripping up the slab. i too agree with the others here. the pipes are done. for a variety of reasons the copper has worn out and wishes to be replaced. i would advise to bite the bullet and repipe. i'm still suggesting copper, but not under the slab.

we used to run the pipe up into the attic and consequently make our drops from there.

sorry roughly speaking the bad news, but it does appear.
Answers:    It sounds like electrolisys. that causes small pin hole leak in copper pipes. check your electrical grounding in the house and clear sure it all good.
at hand are other reasons for it as well but mortal underslab thats where I would look first.
Your plumber is right to want to replace it and from your words I would agree with him
I would recommend him using Whirsbo tubing as electrolisys wont effect it.
howdy hey listen he s right repipe now and compensate what ever it cost
im a drywall contractor who follows plumbing contractors all day long
