I am fixing a leaky compression valve faucet. I cannot for the energy of me get the spigot unscrewed. I am turning it counterclockwise. I have tried to loosen it near coke, CLR and a automotive penetrating grease and used socket sets and wrenches. If I keep going I am going to strip the tap. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something on the underside I should be undoing first? Any relief?
Answers:    If you are talking roughly getting the stems out of the faucet. First, make sure the stems are within the open position. If the stems are screwed adjectives the way within that puts lots of pressure on the stems and makes them really thorny to come out. Go to a hardware store and buy a set of faucet stem wrenches, they come 5 to a set in many sizes. That should get it for you. Best of luck.
cut them sour and replace them with hot far easier
