At times the water flow will stop (hot and cold) after a minute or two it will come hindmost on. This has happen several times mostly when my wife uses the tub to wash the kids. I am proclivity towards this being a pump but I am by no mechanism a plumber!
We are on a well, I enjoy no idea how out-of-date the pump is, we have a dampen softener that I bypassed when trying to figure this out so I am pretty confident it have nothing to due wth the softener. Are in that any easy or relatively glib tests out in that to figure this out or shrink this down?

Answers: Is the pressure container where you can grasp to it? One quick check is turn the water on and view your pressure guage . It should be mounted on the tank nouns at the outlet of your pressure tank. Typical pressure switches are preset for 20/40 or 30/50 (30/50 is most regularly used), but can be adjusted. First, thieve a tire pressure guage and measure the pressure within your tank. There should be a nouns valve on the top of the reservoir, with a touch cap (like on your tire). It should read somewhere around 30psi (may differ, depending on your switch setting). The reservoir pressure should be listed on the rating stub. Your pressure tank could hold a defective bladder, and has become water-logged. If specifically the case, replace the pressure container. Anyway, when you run your tap, study the guage. If the pressure drops to 30psi (or 20) and your pump turns on, shut off the stroke. Again watch the guage and see if the pressure rises to 50psi (or 40) and next shuts off. This would indicate your pressure switch is working properly. Let us know.
Sounds to me approaching the pressure switch on the unit is no well brought-up and takes to long to respond to the low pressure up to that time kicking the pump back on to protract constant water pressure. Check that out first, past going crazy replacing the pump!
