I'm on city utilities. When my washing machine drains or I flush the toilet. It gurgles surrounded by my kitchen sink. What could be wrong? Whom should I notify? Thank you

If you have young children it could be anything as they do shove adjectives sorts of stuff down the toilet
I agree that you have a venting problem. Vents (the pipe you see coming out of the roof) provide nouns to the drainage system to allow it to work properly. If you can do it safely, go onto the roof beside a flashlight and look down the pipe for a blockage. You can flush the vent with a garden hose. I would suspect a partial clog down line somewhere. Most possible you will need the line cleared by a company who can run a snake through your pipes. Good luck. Look for someone close to Roto-Rooter.
Answers: You need to have your plumbing "vent" checked for blockage. Without a virtuous "vent" your lines will drain very slowly. Birds, squirrels, rats, mud dobbers, etc all resembling to clog these vents. You should be able to see your vent string coming through your roof. It is the one without a rain boater on it. The air being pushed aside by the draining river has to go somewhere. That's why its gurgling contained by your sink.
