My mother has only just had a pipe burst surrounded by her attic and all her antiquated records (vinyl) own been soaked.. does anyone know a hasty and easy means of access to dry about 200+ annals without unsafe them or the paper covers contained by any way.. ??
Answers: Have they be soaked a long time so that the paper is stuck to them? If so, you might in recent times be outta luck.
Anyway, what I would do is take the annals and put them in a cool (not cold) place and run a disciple over them until the paper dries ample that you can handle them in need them tearing, afterwards pull the collection out and do the same. Later, after the chronicles are dry, wipe them off beside a cloth used to clean lenses.
do not lay them flat, they will warp.
Take files out from covers and lean against a wall, gently wipe beside soft cloth.
Call the insurance company too- it covers damaged items- smaller number your deductable.
