The city has posted a few notice saying that our side patio is now surrounded by violation and that we any need to repair the blockade or remove the fence posts. Since our neighbor took the obstruction down without our okay or without giving us prior perceive, I don't think this is something we should hold to pay for. I am currently drafting a nice note to our neighbors requesting that they repair the fence, but I be wondering if anyone else had any suggestion.

Answers:    This is an interesting situation. I would advise you to contact an attorney beforehand doing anything else. According to code and most municipalities any fence should be installed on one property of another.

This adjectives depends on the laws within your community. Some states say that the obstruction on the property line is the responsibility of both property owners. You might want to lately call the city and ask them. They will convey you for sure what is going on. When you are talking to them, explain to them that your neighbor is the one who took the blockade down, and if anyone should be getting notices it's them (but read out it in a nice way-don't breed the city mad!!).
