Our untried roof is leak? hi, we recently have a new roof placed on our existing flat roof,...

hi,
we recently have a new roof placed on our existing flat roof, the roofers did the duty and neglected to mention that we had a on the blink roof structure but they did the job anyway, they used colourbond steel clad roofing near common sisalation, flashing and trappings to make watertight - this is from the invoice we own - they pinched the lighting wires when screwing down the roof thus we have no lighting for 3 days and we had to go and get an electrician in (do we foot this or do the roofers???) to rewire our lighting, following this we had a severe storm and we have a leaking roof surrounded by the living area and our bedroom the ceiling is diluted and smells, the roofer has said that it be not his fault though did place some packing underneath the section that have a pool of water on it, they have cut our austar cable and there are cracks appearing within the ceiling, what i want to know is are they liable for the damage they hold caused???? Please assist
Answers:    Yes they are liable, you should try to work it out with the contractor first. If he is unwilling to work next to you, you need to hire a advocate.

You also might want to file a complaint beside your states regulatory agency that licenses contractors if your state have one. You might be able to return with his bond if he is required to have one. In most states contractors must hold insurance as well.

Again best to contact a legal representative.
