Hi. Who knows what concerned of air conditioning should I install surrounded by my house? I bought a new house 4 years ago and the constructor installed a terrifically small A/C Carrier unit. It be always running lacking turning off. My house size is 2700 sq.ft. near 9 feet ceiling, 7 people live surrounded by the house. We have 9 big window on the west side of the house. A/C company who installed this unit one and only gave 1yr warrant on this element. It's 105*F in California very soon and our A/C broke! Does anybody know what type I should install? Our unit is located outside and it's a centralized split A/C. Where can I get it for a resonable price, near the fan and the compressor? Does anybody know if the construction company can put surrounded by the right unit size, regardless of the warranty.
Thanks!
Compresor is under warranty for 5yrs. Labor for 1 yr. Builders use 600sq. ft. per ton for a/c and heat. Custom home builders use 400sq. ft. per ton. 500 sq. ft. per ton has worked for me contained by Houston, but you have extramural heat nouns. I would think that you entail to split the home into 2 different parts (as far as a/c goes), and install 2 split systems of 3 tons or( 1 of 2 and 1 of 4 tons.). Sounds like you requirement at least 6 tons of a/c. I would jump with Trane or York.
Goodman is made contained by Houston and has a reputation for selling inexpensive "builders" models.
Brand name does not tight-fisted what you think it does anymore, alike unit that is to say made for 1500 dollars and has a know nickname on it can be bought for almost half that beside the generic or unknown name. With a 2700 House, you will obligation 1 ton of ac for each 500 square foot, unless the house is ridiculously well insulated, which way a 5 ton unit ( the extra 200 square foot should not matter here) Do you know what the size of the frail unit is? Also what types of window do you have? Single pane window make it expensive to hold the house cool, so I hope you have some nice double pane window.
As far as the warranty, unless they installed the wrong size unit, you Will enjoy very little verbs on getting them to replace or warranty the unit if it is old. Maybe they will respond to a TV watch dog or consumer complaint reporter better.
Luck
Answers: Running most of the time is in reality more efficient (and tend to produce drier air) than running only a small fraction of the time. If it kept the house at a polite temperature on hot days, it be a good size for the house.
Are you sure the component is dead? Or is it freshly iced up? Or a switch turned off?
When you look for a untried unit, ask the prospective contractors to run a "booklet J" calculation -- folks who want to guesstimate by square footage of a house or "that's what we other do" are not doing you any service.

If you had a problem near under-sizing before, i would hold an install tech scope out the house and tender you a quote for a new component. Unfortunately, the only latest units you'll bring now are big efficiency and enjoy to be matched to the inside coil. That means you enjoy to replace the inside and outside coils and the lines in between because in a minute you're moving more refrigerant. I would suggest a Goodman-they're inexpensive and do the job okay. Not only that, when they own to be repaired, the parts are easy to find and cheap.
Until explicitly done, window unit will have to do.
...any that or move to Green Bay for a while lol!
That Carrier component should have a 5 year parts warranty at amazingly least.
A/C systems are only just that, systems. The condenser, air handler, and duct system are adjectives matched as to load and nouns flow. You can not just put contained by "BIGGER" single components on a system. To go "BIGGER" the condenser and nouns handler both have to be changed and most expected the ducting will need modified, and the copper lines changed. And I'd bet this is a 10 SEER system which is no longer available. 13 SEER is in a minute the minimum the law will allow.
And it is a "builders grade" part most likely.
