Hi, I just replaced my prehistoric round Honeywell thermostat with a exotic Lux programmable thermostat. I am unclear as to which color wires on the antediluvian Honeywell correspond to the new wires. Some are clear, white, wan, black, etc but the old Honeywell also have an Orange, blue, and red that don't seem to correspond to the newer thermostat. The different thermostat manual doesn't specify these colors, as economically. Can any of you recommend how these should be wired? Thanks.
Answers:    If all you enjoy is heating on an grease furnace, then you may want to make some electrical system additions. Older oil furnaces have an ignition control that just needed the thermostat terminal, (T-T), closed, in lay down to start the furnace. That is to say that no power be required to or from the thermostat. You now enjoy a thermostat, which requires 24 V-AC to power up and you may require a switching relay to accept the signal rear down to the furnace. However, you may have a newer furnace that's already set up for programmable.

Honestly - pick up yourself the headache and put back the outdated Honeywell or call surrounded by a professional heating contractor to install the exotic Lux.
Always have problems upgrading electrical. They don't generate things the way they used to! Maybe the following correlation will help.
