No power/electricity surrounded by partially of house! What the--?!? We had several storms in our nouns lately and lost power for...
We had several storms in our nouns lately and lost power for a good day or two. When the power co. get our electricity back on, four rooms had no lights: bedroom, hall, bath and another bedroom, in that demand.
The odd parts, now:
-The outlets contained by one room (furthest from the breaker box) work.
-The outside lights, controlled by a switch in the living room (which is fine), work.
-The outlets in the first bedroom and the tub do not work.
-I've flipped every breaker in the breaker box, to no avail.
-The bathroom light and the second bedroom wispy has flickered twice in the later couple of days when turned on, but went right back out after a second or two.
I've call the power co. and they've come out & swear that the house is getting "full juice". I'm at a loss as to what to check first! If I can avoid calling an electrician I would like to ('cause I'm po' folk & know they're expensive but, yes, well worth it). Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this back I call out a repairman?
Check the baths for GFCI outlets. You might need to reset them. Seems to me approaching you've hit all of the most likely reason. Could be water causing a short somewhere. Go to your breaker box and PUSH adjectives of the 15 and 20 amp breakers off then tern them pay for on.
The Power Co. is not at failing.
There is power to your panel.
Some circuits work, some don't.
You own the circuits.
They're your problem.
Bedroom, hall, bath, - All these circuits will be on
GFCI or AFCI devices if the house is of recent construction.
Go to the panel and look for RESET buttons.
Flip breaker bad, breaker on, press reset.
If they won't reset, it's time to call a Pro.
My best guess is that if it is true that you enjoy both phases of power to your panel then you may have a impossible main breaker. flip it off consequently back on. I would not try changing this yourself though. Good approach to get yourself a quick trip to the ER if you don`t know what you are doing.
After rereading your press I am seriously questioning if you have devout power at your panel from the electric company. They may know that you have power at your transformer outside or at your pole but did they actually come into your home to check it? There are seriously of things that can happen between your pole and the panel inside.
Good Luck!
anybody that has to ask these questions is better sour leaving the fixing to someone else. Unless you dont mind being insensible. You better get a warm jacket, becuz ur going to b cold.
Answers: If the power company says that you enjoy full power. I would check your GFCI's. One or more could be tripped, which would cause your problem. Check every GFCI receptacle by pressing TEST then RESET.
GFI's wont effect anything other than tub, kitchen, outdoor, or garage outlets. Sounds like you lost one leg (phase) at the service, probably the main breaker. Were any breakers turned past its sell-by date before, during, or after the outage. Sometimes old breakers, especialy if tripped, don't reset right, try turning sour all the other breakers, and then turn thre major on, and off a few times, then move it on and turn on the other breakers one at a time, and see if something comes on with each breaker turned on. use a table light to check plugs, as breakers are turned on. If every other breaker works, the main is most likely doomed to failure, if thats the case, call a sparkey.
