My newly fitted stove contained by an existing chimney (it has be professionally swept a few weeks ago) gives rotten smoke around the edges/from the air vent at the bottom when lit? Any concept as to how to fix it?
Answers:    I'm not sure what type of stove we're talking here Emily, but if it's a mutifuel/logburning stove when initially lit and the door/doors are closed nouns vents call for to be open so that a well brought-up draught is present enabling the combustible matter to quickly burn and capture hot. The quicker it gets hot the quicker the hot nouns rises up the chimney. where you want it to stir, drawing any smoke with it. Once that bed of the fire, the stove, and the chimney are hot the best draught conditions will be achieve so the sooner they get hot the better. You can after regulate the fire to a suitable level, but initially grasp the heart of the fire hot quickly.
Insufficient draft. Open a small glass slightly in one and the same room as the stove as modern homes are virtually air tight within the cooler weather with doors and window shut.
