New house door creaks when spread out oil it next to household grease, very soon it creaks louder! Help!?
The frame is improperly made. It is probably not square.
Remove the hinge pins from the hinge and remove the door. Next use light 200 grit wet sand composition and lightly sand each pin as in good health as the insides of each hinge. Now reassemble and use CRC Silicone spray as a lubricant, not household oil.
CRC works 10 times better than WD-40 as both are silicone base. You said open so it has to do next to the hinges only.
If at the jamb creaking, after the door is touching in spots.
Could plane it to fit if wood.
New house, dont worry, draw from the contractor to fix it.
Answers: It it is creaking at the hinges when you open and close it you might enjoy to get the oil into the hinge. Pull respectively hinge pin one at a time and oil it. Put the first one back within and do the same to the second and third ones. This should correct the noise.
