ok...we have a 20 year prehistoric stove and we are getting a new one tomorrow...Here's the hitch...the stupid builders of our house knotty wired the old stove IN the wall w/ lately a bit of chord sticking out that had to be wired into the element.
My question is...when my nice exotic shiny stove comes tomorrow.how will this work? do I just connect it close to the old one?
Answers:    don't be so metallic on the stupid builders, all stoves used to be unyielding wired. if you remove the access panel where the cable goes surrounded by the stove, you'll see the four wires connected to the block. TURN OFF THE BREAKER. disconnect the wires and buy the proper outlet and box. hook up the wires black and red on each side and white contained by the center. the ground will be marked. install the outlet on the baseboard roughly speaking 1 inch off the floor surrounded by the center of where your brand new stove will be. I should tell you that the transfer people will not disconnect the stove for you
You do not stipulation to cut into the drywall if you have some head wire coming out of the wall. If you know what you are doing you could telecommunication the new socket yourself and attach the outlet to the outside of the wall. If you do not know what you are doing and electrician is not that expensive to own him come in and attach a 220 outlet.
