There is also a clog in the sink/disposal. Does that keep hold of the dishwasher from running? Any other ideas up to that time I call the repair folks?
Answers: The clog within your sink/disposal will keep your dishwasher from draining, it will probably overrun up your sink more. But if you have no power, no lights, no nouns, nothing, you definetly own some type of electrical problem. You need to start at the breaker, first create sure it's the correct breaker and then breed sure that the breaker has power running through it. You do this near an electric tester. If you're not comfortable testing breakers, you'll own to get an electrician or an applince repair guy or a plumber. If the breaker is OK my subsequent step would be to test the wires coming into the dishwasher for power. To do this you hold to remove the kick plate on the bottom of the dishwasher locate the electric nouns, remove the wire nuts and question paper for power. (Of course your breaker will be off when you verbs the wire nuts sour so you don't zap yourself.) If you have power in attendance it's in your dishwasher itself. Could be your latch switch or some other internal switch or short surrounded by wireing. Hope this helps. PS becasue a circuit breaker say "dishwasher" next to it doesn't close-fisted it's really the correct breaker for the dishwasher.
The clogged sink/disposal problem won't keep the dishwasher from running, but it won't tolerate it drain if you do get it running, so you're going to enjoy to take charge of that problem as well. I know this may nouns trivial, but make TRUE sure the door is completely closed and latched, as it won't run unless it is. If that does it, then overrun the disposal side of the sink about partially full of water and hold the plug contained by the other side so it can't squirt back up at you and turn on the disposal. This act will frequently force the plug through and out of the pipes to unclog the system.
