New couch legs? The legs I previously had on my couch either split (cheap wood)...

The legs I previously had on my couch either split (cheap wood) or the hole for the screw is completely stripped.
They used to just be a wooden cylinder with a screw on the cease that went into a hole in wooden frame of the couch. Right in a minute the couch is sitting on unsightly cinder blocks.

How can I get new legs and safe and sound attach them to the couch? Will I need to create new screw holes?
You can find replacement legs at the hardware store , usually the hole are universal so you wont entail to drill new ones .

Most legs are attached within one of two ways (assuming they are removable, and most are):

1) Screws through holes in the bottom of the legs and into the sofa frame. Usually 3-4 screws per leg.

2) Hanger bolts within the leg, screwing into T-nuts in the frame. When you screw the leg on everything tightens up and holds surrounded by place (see the diagram in the link http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=... ). The T-nuts may own fallen out. Take off the dust cover and any go looking for them or buy some new ones at the hardware store. 5/16" is the usual USA standard for legs.

I can buy unknown legs in a variety of sizes and styles at woodworking suppliers or upholstery suppliers. The ones I buy come near 5/16" hanger bolts already in place.

Answers:    Maybe you can catch a piece of oak board 1X4 and cut 4'' sections off and place it over the old-fashioned area,(glue & screw) and it depends on how your new legs attach if they are line bolts then pre-drill a few sizes smaller, if it is a bolt thread then use an insert nut screw on the trial bolt/leg. easy fix but a little trouble, any way it is money well spent.
