Your heat controls can be changed yes. A back boiler system requires a conversion (if you want a combi), the subsidise boiler can be left within position so that the fire can still be used. If a quality boiler is used (Worcester Bosch or Vaillant), costs are feasible to be lb2500 ish, don't use a boiler that would not have control of the hot hose temperature. If you use an approved (by boiler manufacturer) the gaurantee will be as long as 5 years. e-mail if you requirement pre installation advice.
