I had a roof put on my house 8 years ago and it is already surrounded by terrible shape I have a 15 year roof put on would it be worth the extra money to go next to a 20 or 30 year roof or will the lifetime be the same I be told the first time it did not matter it to do near the sun and weather and what month would be the best month to have it done
The shingles should be free but the labor is not covered. You take what you pay for and yes a 25 year is the minimum concidering the cost to install.
If it is an asphalt roof it will not ultimate more than 10 years in several climates.
If you want a roof that will last obtain either metal shingles, panel or a concrete tile roof. They all cost like mad more than asphalt but they will last forever.
Answers: A typical 3-tab fiberglass/asphalt type shingle should end well over 8 years, unless they be installed OVER the existing shingles, which is never a good theory. Plus, the standard 3-tab come with a constrained 20-year warranty, so you're really asking about the 30-40 year architectural type shingles. The architectural shingles do closing longer than the 20-year shingles but not significantly. Spring is the best time for installation in my feelings. When it's too cold the shingles don't bond together and the wind can well tear individual shingles bad. But when it's too hot, the installers are more likely to mar the shingles because they are extremely soft. As mentioned earlier, metal and concrete tiles own a longer life-span but cost a great deal more to purchase and install. Also, be paid sure the attic is properly ventilated as that alone will seriously affect your roof's longevity.
