ok... here's the situation, i have both a 4 and a 3 prong plug to work beside.. but the outlet doesnt match any one, the outlet looks exactly like the 3 prong plug but at hand is also a triangle in the middle, im not sure if it is a ground or what im newly worried because I know 220 is pretty strong and could really do some damage if it be the wrong cord.. please help.. please no guesses I dont wanna blow myself thru the wall trying to return with this thing hooked up.. thankfulness

If the 'triangle' is contained by the very center of the three prongs... its certainly for a screw to hold the cover plate in place. (Though its usually 'round')

Here is a correlation showing how a dryer should be hooked up... both 4 prong, and 3 prong outlets are shown, as well as how the cord is hooked up to the dryer. No guessing, heheh -- http://www.fixitnow.com/appliantology/dr...
(you can in fact see the screw in these photos)

Range outlets are also 220, but they own a different prong arrangement, than dryer outlets.

220 volt is strong. its more than enough to assassinate, so you are justified to be concerned, and to proceed thoughtfully.
If your outlet looks different from those shown on the website, I'd suggest you call an electrician.

Good Luck
a dryer own a L tape of the gound and it a 30 ams. where on earth the ranges have a round close to gound and it a 50 ams. check your dryer ut if you can hook up a four prong male plug to the dryer because some can just up to a three plug. so look at the famle plug and make a picure of itand run it to the hard ware store to carry the right one and they will tell you if it a dryer or gamut.
