My boyfriend requested a toolbox for his 25th birthday. I'd like to give him something totally top of the rank. While he isn't a professional builder, he does own several houses and do basic building/maintenance work (hanging drywall, laying runner, fixing sinks, installing plumbing, etc.

If you can point me in the right direction (stores, products you've liked, what to look for contained by a good box) I'd appreciate it!
Answers:    I love my Craftsman toolbox, sold by Sears. I use the four-drawer model, with an slit lid. Three-drawer models are also available-- both come in several colors. If neither of these do the trick, there are *many* other option you can preview in-store or online.

The workers at sears are more than willing to facilitate chose a model based on size, portability, and what tools he would be storing.

Ball-bearing drawer slides are *very* nice, although they might not be offered on the portable sized boxes. My preference is hands-down: metal over plastic.

Thats a great grant, hope he enjoys it as much as I do!
Totally top of the line for on-site work? Pro-Veto Look at Lowes. They are selling a Kobalt tool box that have a frig and sound system built into it. You could almost live out of this box.
