my boiler has be working fine without the crucial heatingby, now when i come to use the heat the boiler fires but the pressure gauge flys up and trips boiler. the pump could be airlocked as it make a few funny noises in the past tripping .i have no manual and dont seem to be capable of find where to bleed it , i would also resembling to know what the standard operating pressure should be........
Answers: This boiler probably has two pumps, one for hot river and one for heating, it is not a flat head screwdriver to remove the centre pin, it is a spanner, 8 or 10mm, do not do this near the pump running it will take your fingers stale, remove the nut/screw, when it finishes turning, pull the pin forward and turn next to the spanner again, this will free the pump. If the pump is free, either the thermostat or the pressure vessel is broken. This boiler is at lowest 12 years old, and be bought out by potterton who in turn be bought out by Baxi, ANY part for this boiler (if the part of the pack is available) will cost twice as much as the part for any other produce of boiler, don't spend a lot on it because it have a very restricted life.
Try next to a flat head screwdriver, loosen the screw on the front of the pump if theirs air surrounded by it,it will come out there. afterwards look at the top of the boiler for the air release valve( looks resembling a small copper bottle with a plastic screw surrounded by top) give that a turn. You may involve a smaller head screwdriver to present it push gently down contained by it to release the air if its jammed up(take the plastic trilby right out for this and do it quick or you might find wet). Operating pressure should be 1 to 1'1/2 bar. Been a plumber for 8 years, hopefully this will backing you from what you have said, but for get some one into look at it next to corgi reg
