but the ice designer does. How do I fix it? This happens something like every six months and then after a week or two is starts working again. But this concluding time has last much longer and it's still not working. My warranty is up and I don't want to spend $300 on a repair telephone call.
Answers: sounds like the solenoid spout is bad
Like a previous answer, it is possible the solenoid tap is not functioning which could be a problem with the spout itself or it may not be getting current from the switch. I think on most refrigerators when you press any the switch for ice or sea a light comes on at the dispenser, so if that pale doesn't come on when you press the switch for water I would reflect on there is a problem next to the switch. If it does come on I would think it moderately possibly is the solenoid valve, which on several refrigerators is located in the posterior lower left appendage side of the refrigerator. On refrigerators with hose and ice through the door in that are two solenoids valves made together. One to nurture water to the rime maker and one for the marine dispenser. If you remove the electrical connection to the solenoid and checked the coils next to an ohmmeter and if there is no continuity it will make clear to you the solenoid coil is burned up. In which case, you will hold found the problem. I can't imagine why the problem would be intermittent.
