What should I set the thermostat on for it to run most efficently?
Answers: For the most part you won't concentration a difference between a heat pump and the traditional a/c element for summer cooling. Its the winter heating explicitly the biggest difference from a furnace unit. But you should enjoy cool air coming out the vent, it might not be ice cold, but it should still be doing the profession.
As far as setting the temp, don't set it all the process down, some units own the possibility to freeze up if it tries too hard to cool. I wouldn't set the cooling temp more than 6 degree away from the current temp., and gradually keep hold of lowering it until you have set your desired temp.
If it doesn't give the impression of being to reach your desired temp after 4-6 hours, your system have an issue, and you need to bid your contractor that installed it. Even if it is a holiday, they should have a 24 hour number that they can be reach at, and you should not be charged anything for them to come out to fix something they should have done right the first time, even if it is a holiday or sour hours.
If your heatpump is new,you should asking your question with the supplier and installer. There are going to diverge settings for different sized areas.
