My tub spout shoots bad from the wall into the tub everytime I try to switch it to shower mode. How can I fix? the tub spout stays on when the water comes out of it,...

the tub spout stays on when the water comes out of it, but as soon as I switch it to the shower director by pulling the lever up on the spout the spout shoots into the tub and the raw pipe is exsposed.

Answers:    If what you see is showing copper, no threads then the spout you own is called a slip fit. There is a set screw specifically tightened to hold the spout on. The set screw will be on the underside of the spout. Tighten the set screw with an allen wrench.

Sounds close to either the pipe threads are stripped or the spout threads are stripped. If its the spout to be precise stripped just progress and buy a new one at Home Depot. If its the pipe next I would suggest to hire someone who knows what they are doing or buy a book on home plumbing repair.
