I have a spray gun that have only be used a few times. It wasn't used for a few years and now it won't spray. When I hold it hooked up to the compressor air will accomplish the first knob(the bottom one), bur the air pressure will be approach less than what ig individual pushed into it. By the second knob no air is present. I've taken it apart but can't numeral it out. It's a Kobalt gravity spray gun.
Answers: i've had nouns tool that sat for a while and spiders or wasps have filled them beside mud. also a gas lantern and all the ground holes on my outlets it the barn.
Very predictable, you have a clogged gun. You indicate you've taken it apart, but did not indicate that you own properly cleaned the unit.
When my guns become not working, (don't spray, sputter, drip around the canister cap, etc...) I completely disassemble them, and soak adjectives parts in lacquer thinner for a while. lacquer thinner is a strong solvent, and will usually verbs old paint, and will allow you to remove the clog. I use "pipe cleaners", a flex shaft, with thread wound into the rope, it is small enough, that it can be pushed though small tunnels inside your gun frame, sometimes, a fine brass/stainless steel brush (like a toothbrush), will help to verbs dried paint from the spray gun. You indicate it is a gravity feed gun, remove the container, and check that oriface for dried paint. Run your pipe cleaner through the passage several times to clean it. Some time, in that is a fine mesh filter between the canister and the gun frame. Check it for clogs. Fill the canister with lacquer thinner, and try to spray the lacquer thinner. You may enjoy to adjust your paint volumn knob, and you air mixture knob to obtain the right viscosity. The main problem is usually a dirty gun, but sometimes, the viscosity of the paint you're trying to spray will not consent to the gun spray. Check how thin/thick your paint is. Oil base paint requires mineral spirits/paint thinner as a reducer for the paint to allow it to spray properly. Shelac requires alcohol as a reducer, and lacquer requires lacquer thinner to slight the viscosity of the paint medium you are attempting to spray. Most products require a trial and error approach to obtain the right mixture for your gun. I think the Kobalt gravity spray gun is sold by Lowes, if you are still have trouble with it, check beside Lowes to see if it can be returned as defective.
