Since the beginning of December my switch is sticking and has to be commonly forced into the lock, is this cold weather or more likely rust, any suggestions. What nearly a quick squirt of WD40 into the lock???

Better than WD40, rub a graphite (lead) pencil well over the push button, then slide it surrounded by and out of the lock a few times.
