My bedroom window is very authoritarian, leaving no room for my window a/c component to fit in it. So I was wondering, does anyone know if I can sit my a/c element on it's side and still be able to run it? It's a little one.
HVAC Tech.: NO!! it take water out of the air and uses it to serve the unit run cooler plus it drains out the back onto the ground. if you run it turned up it could short out, ruin your sill and the wall. CUT the glass bigger! NOPE .. horizontal units are made to be installed that way ... You entail a vertical unit. If you do what you want to do it will just be for a moment while when it will be ruined.
Gabriel, as mentioned by others, do not try to operate the unit on its side. You may check the measurements of your window against the specs for a typical slider fanlight unit. Follow link provided for more info. You didn't mention the BTU dimensions, so check out other sizes to fit your needs. Good Luck. LINK :http://www.sear.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605... No, it will ruin it quite quickly. The compressor desires to stay level as designed, on its side the oil will run out and it will burn up. The grease will run into the coils, not out side since it is a sealed unit.
AC unit are available that fit narrow windows, but you might enjoy to order one--Sears, or Lowes or Home Depot should have them any in stock or special order.
No. the compressor must be adjectives, putting it sideways will ruin it.

Get the facts before you install that A/C no , the oil within the compressor will not lube right resulting in premature compressor failure .
Answers:    The answer is no, although I've see one running like that.leaking hose all over the place. I was suprised that it even run at all, although I don't know for how long. (compressor won't lubricate properly, oil can clog up parts of the system, etc.)
I do know that they cause narrow window unit for a situation like yours, if you're willing to money for another unit,..if you ask at the appliance stores, someone will have a come to a point unit to sell.
Hope this help.
