I baked a lasagna for an hour last hours of darkness. no problems. this morning, the clock on the stove isn't working and the oven will not turn on? it's a cheap oven and stove. Tappan is the brand. this is a rental property. landlord said she will catch it fixed monday. that means surrounded by 2 or 3 weeks someone will come say they don't know what is wrong and within another month we will get a strange one. to turn the oven on and such, there are buttons surrounded by the middle of the stove knobs. similar to i said, stove works fine. are there fuses to an oven? or the little control panel to for the clock and oven controls? any accepted wisdom on how to fix it myself?
Answers: Since you say the clock is ALSO ruined, it sounds like a desperate connection somewhere. Check for voltage at the outlet beside a voltmeter. You should have 220v across 2 of the wires and 110v next to either of those and the impartial wire.
Electric stoves use 220v but it is a 'split' service allowing 110 also for the clock.
It COULD also be that one side of the circuit is depart due to a faulty breaker but this is not possible. (220v breakers are SUPPOSED to trip BOTH sides of the circuit at the same time.)
Probably the heat element go out in the oven. It's a simply repair to replace the fruitless element. Typically the roast goes out first since it get used more often. There is a screw(s) that hold the part in place at the spinal column of the oven. Unscrew and the element will own connectors that attach to the electrical components. be careful not to permit the wires go put money on into the cavity because they're hard to gain back out sometimes. Carry the dated element to find a replacement and reattach the hot element to the wires and screw backbone in place. I hope that help.
