It also happens when nouns is flowing. It seems as though the metal is expanding and contracting when the vent is warm or cooling. Unfortunately this occurs contained by the wall and ceiling (vent is in the attic) above the master bedroom. What cause this? More importantly what can be done to correct this?
Answers:    Physics 101. It is the metal expanding and contracting that is cause this noise.

The fix is to insulate the ductwork, cause the temperature adaptation to be more gradual. It will also help contained by your heating/cooling costs.
it indeed can be corrected, whether you can dio it is questionable after you see what is involved. But the noise itself is; non-hazardous, non-threatening, common, majority and a product of materials and temperatures. All due to expansion and contraction as temperature change. You could 1.) insulate the duct work, anaesthetizing the noises and keeping the warmness and cool air inside your house, and lowering your operating costs, 2). turn your stereo volume up when the furnace cycle ends, 3) swot up to live with it and divide that everytime it switches off, you are in your favour money or 4) contact a contractor and see what it would cost to insulate, which personally I would do, and net up your mind after that. Sometimes a little reverberation isn't worth the investment until you get adjectives the figures surrounded by.
