A few weeks ago, I started noticing that my dryer, which is a Kenmore "Softheat" series purchased possibly ten years ago, would begin to smell hot after running for partly an hour or even less. The smell have not gotten any worse, but I'm concerned enough that I don't want to go off the machine running when I'm not home. I'm assuming that it have something to do with years of lint buildup, but what exactly do I do in the order of that? Thanks so much!
bring out your shop vac and vacuum out all the lint, after you give attention to you are done, set the shop vac to blow and stick it in the vent to the outside and blow out the vent. Having lint build up surrounded by the exhaust will cause a fire. Make sure you enjoy nothing where on earth the heater constituent is. Unplug the dryer and move it to an open nouns and start taking off the vertebrae you will then be capable of see where the lint etc.is. vacuum it adjectives out and be sure not to plug it in until you are completely done beside cleaning and reassembling it.

even if you diligently verbs the filter...lint will accumulate contained by the exhaust line. This can motivation a house fire!
It is simple to solve but may take a bit of muscle/acrobatics. Try to bring back access to the back of the dryer, loosen the exhaust nouns, and use a wet/dry vac (if available) to suck out the lint build up from both inside the dryer and in the exhaust duct. If this sounds daunting, you can look within the yellow page and find a Furnace installer who performs this cleaning service. They will feasible have fancy brushes to achieve it as clean as possible.

Having this done every couple years will not one and only prevent a house fire...but also make drying your clothes faster and cheaper.
Answers:    Stop using it!

It needs taken apart and verbs out the lint build-up. Lint CAN cause a fire.

What desires done is very smooth if you know how to disassemble the dryer. (Remember to unplug it before you start!)
