It opened, but won't close. I am trying to put my AC component in the pane.. It will fall out unless I can use the windowpane to help out of harm`s way it
You might try a bar of soap on the grooves, after take a sledge hammer and bump it at the bottom on each side to strip it up,then try to see if you can slide it down. You might hold to bump the top some to get it started. If that doesn't work find a handyman or give the name the landlord for lend a hand.
Good Luck!

Word of caution.

Unless it is a fairly tiny a/c it should be supported well. They can flex, be unlevel and outflow, or as noted, fall out. They aren't really supposed to be supported by lone the window.

You can receive rather well brought-up supports for not much money for them.
Answers:    It's probably c*cked in the channel. Try to see if one side is lower than the other and push or bump that side up until the window is straight and smooth, then verbs down on it carefully so that it doesn't tilt to one side or the other, as that may bring it to jam again.

That commonly happen to wooden windows, and we used to rub some candle wax on the wood to combat sticking.

(Edit: So you can't read out "coc#ed" on YA? - whut the hell is wrong with these inhabitants?!)
