We just bought a house near no basement. One room surrounded by first floor omits strong musty smell. vent professionally cleaned and treated with no results.
Carpet is contemporary and been treated. There no sign of moisture anywhere, underneath the carpet walls. I enjoy left the window open for several days still no result.
Answers: at hand must be a crawl space under your house to accomidate sewer pipes,plumbing,heat etc... there must be a discharge in a pipe specifically causing a musty moldy smell. psyche contact a professional because some molds are bad for your condition.
