The microwave suddenly and unexpectedly quit cooking things last hours of darkness, the light comes on, the hanger-on runs, the carousel turns, but no cooking whatsoever. What is worng with it, is it fixable, or do I requirement to get a foreign microwave? I have a trim tools for a 2.1 cu ft GE Profile and they no longer sell 2.1 cu ft models. To be paid things worse, it's stainless. Replacement cost approx $400 with strange trim kit for bright model. Any appliance repair response greatly appreciated.
My mom have this same problem with her ge microwave (it be not a profile though) and the repairman said that it was the magnetron... he said that that division was expensive and by the time she compensated for labor to she might as well buy a untried microwave... (hers was an over the variety microwave). They ended up getting a fresh microwave... .
I don't know the technical vocabulary, but it sounds like the actual microwave generator isn't kicking on. It doesn't necessarily mingy it failed completed as it could be an internal electrics issue or possibly a fuse. The microwave part is what cause the food to heat up, so everything points to that as person the problem right now.
The physical question is if it's worth repairing or not. That I can't answer though.
